Lesson lengths are either 30, 45, or 60 minutes in length.

Please come to lessons on time! Please account for possible   traffic delays as lessons cannot be extended past the           scheduled time.

Students must bring the following to lessons:

  • Music in either a three-ring binder OR on an iPad.

  • A smart phone or recording device to record lessons.

Students are required to listen to the recorded lesson (soon     after lesson) and make needed notes. This will help to           cognitively understand what is needed to practice and         apply that week.

PRACTICE REQUIREMENTS

Students agree to practice a minimum of 45 min. every      day of the week (including Saturday, I'll explain in            lessons.)

Practicing is a place of structured exploration and              includes diving in to points of technique that have been      assigned for the week.

Singing in the shower and in the car does not constitute      practice time.

The studio has a high expectation of practicing. Please      make it a priority.

A note to High School Students

05.

06.

SCHOOL MUSIC EVENTS:  Mandatory school choir/music events require 2 week's advanced notice via text in order to be excused. Otherwise, the lesson is paid for.

A special note on SPORTS: Lessons can not be rearranged for sports. Please do not ask. This studio is for highly dedicated vocalists where voice is the priority. If there's a conflict, please work it out with your coach.

CANCELLING LESSONS

Exceptions for attendance will be made ONLY for extenuating circumstances. The following exceptions are:

ILLNESS:  Please do not come to lessons sick. The studio houses many professional performers whose income is dependent on having a voice. So, it's important to maintain an illness free space.

SPECIAL EVENTS:  In the case of a special event, 2 week's advanced notice via text is required to receive a tuition credit. Otherwise, the lesson will be paid for. Examples of special events are: Wedding, Graduation, Family Vacation.

The Following are NOT excused and lesson will be paid for: Scheduling Conflicts, Last Minute Family Activities or Vacations, Extracurricular Conflicts, Forgetfulness, Traffic Delays.

SUPPLEMENTAL VIRTUAL LESSONS:  Virtual lessons are already taught to out-of-state students, as well as students on tours. In the attempt to decrease missed lessons and maintain forward momentum, virtual lessons will be taught for local students as well for certain circumstances. When would I expect a student to have a virtual lesson?

  • During an illness for both student & teacher:  It can take a couple of weeks to be symptom free, and subsequently, students often miss consecutive lessons due to having symptoms. Students will now have virtual lessons on the days when they, or I, have illness symptoms, but have no vocal swelling.

  • Snow days: Many students travel long distances for lessons. For those who feel unsafe driving in snowy conditions, virtual lessons will be taught that day.

ILLNESS

September 2020 planner and techy tools t

Hey,

I'm not feeling well...

Please do not come to lessons sick. Illnesses affect the function of the voice, altering a vocalist's ability to sing.

If you arrive at the lesson sick, you will be asked to leave without a refund. Instead, if you have respiratory symptoms (runny/stuffy nose, sore throat, cough) please text me ASAP to let me know.

If you are unsure regarding your symptoms, please reach out so we can make an educated decision together.

All illness cancellations require a minimum 4-hour notice. Anything less than that will be charged. However, 24 hour notice is preferred. Since most people know ahead of time when they are sick, please make every effort to provide 24 hour notice.

On the rare occasion that students with morning lessons wake up sick on lesson day, please text me as quickly as you can. We will decide together, based on the situation, if a reimbursement should be given.
